After several try-outs in Hoorn, the work runs for three months on the Fort Island. The level of reality increases immensely. Hundreds of kilos of fish, and its accompanying stench, set the tone for the performance. The story line and actors become almost a sideshow. The audience has to withstand a range of physical sensations, as in a fairground. Fairground In Hell is something you experience with all your senses. You smell the hospital, the fish factory, the sweat of the workers. You feel the heat of the fire, the pool of water you are standing in, you can see the bizarre images and the looks of fear on the faces of the audience.
